Greg, a 63-year-old widower whose wife died when his two sons were 4 years old. He raised them alone. They are now in college.
Greg is a handy-man and cement worker who recently experienced reduced work hours due to inclement weather. He was also paid by a customer for work rendered with a check of insufficient funds ($400), leaving him $400 short on his rent.
He approached us with humility and respect, arriving prepared with all the necessary documentation for our meeting and a handwritten ledger showing years of rent payments never late. Greg’s ledger was confirmed by his landlord who attested to our neighbor’s superlative work ethic.
Greg almost died last year of a ruptured heart valve and was doing small jobs shortly afterwards because he did not want to be behind on rent and student loan payments for his two sons in college. They are the joy and pride of his life and the first in the family to go to college.
Greg believes in working hard, thanking God for life with his sons, and paying his bills on time.
