Steven

Steven  is a 44-year-old man who fell on some hard times.

He was working at Chili's when his hours were cut due to the slow season (January). At the time he was living with his mother, but they were not getting along. He rented a very small apartment. He fell behind in his rent by $1500 due to lost wages.

When he called the Hope line, he faced eviction from his apartment however his property manager was willing to work with him and our Conference to keep him sheltered. Steven was confident that he was doing his best to stabilize his expenses and pay his rent.

When the encounter team visited, he was proud to show his apartment. It was a very small room that serves both a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen with a microwave and a small refrigerator, and bathroom. To him and the team it was a mansion lovingly occupied.

Steven is now fully engaged in being self-sufficient after receiving help. He will be working at IHOP on weekends to supplement his income.

With the ability to work extra shifts during late afternoon, evening hours, and his new IHOP job during daylight hours, he will be stable and able to meet his monthly expenses. His appreciation and gratitude for the visit and assistance warmed everyone’s heart.

Many referrals for food and clothing were shared but the one thing he appreciated most was time and prayers shared in his tiny “mansion."
